Laurel & Hardy

Laurel and Hardy, to this day, are considered among the most famous comedy duos of all time. They were able to entertain the world, and still do, making people laugh in the simplest of ways, yet with tremendous grace, kindness and through their unbreakable friendship.  Their timeless humor has influenced and inspired generations of comedians, actors and performers of all kinds for nearly 100 years.

Englishman Stan Laurel (born “Arthur Stanley Jefferson” on June 16, 1890) and American Oliver Hardy (born “Oliver Norvell Hardy” on January 18, 1892) started their careers as a duo during the late 1920s in silent film shorts.  They first appeared together as a team in 1927 in the silent short Putting Pants on Philip.  Making over 100 films together, they later transitioned to “talkies” and then to feature length films during the 1930s and through 1951 with their last film, Atoll K, filmed in 1951.

After working with Stan and Ollie on various projects over the years, Larry Harmon, through his company Larry Harmon Pictures Corp., acquired the global Intellectual Property rights directly from Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy’s widow, Lucille Hardy Price, during the 1960s.  LHPC has been the sole owner of the Laurel and Hardy names, likenesses and characters worldwide ever since. Countless Laurel and Hardy products, advertising campaigns, and projects, such as animated cartoons, live stage shows and appearances, restaurants as well as feature films have been licensed by LHPC, continuing to this day.

In 2027 and leading up to it, Laurel and Hardy will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their first official appearance as a team, with many new and exciting licensed projects currently underway and planned, ensuring that their legacy will continue to live on.  The magic of these beloved icons, their genuine friendship, warmth and love for adventure, will continue entertaining the world for years to come!
